As a consultant I often get booked to fix certain problems and give some insights on various topics in the IT world.
But so many times the project is in a certain state not because of the tools… There is a certain dread, stress, disempowerment, way of thinking and doing, a resignation in the walls – It became the default mindset at some point and then the spiral kept going and lead the project to this very moment. There is a recovery from something missing..
If a project is in a challenged or pressured state the first thing I do is to get a sense of the dynamics. Who influences others, which people may be at the origin, what’s their pain, why they’re thinking in this way?
I think the challenge as a Devops consultant is not only to understand, select and handle the right tools for a given task but most importantly to have an awareness about the surroundings like stakeholders, pressures, team dynamics, mood, problems, mindsets and the individuals as humans…
